In South Texas high school football is sacred. Every
Friday night in the fall young men from Pleasanton to La Villa, from
Bruni to Point Comfort, place their bodies and their pride under the
harsh glare stadium lights. For two hours they battle for their colors,
sometimes with the crowd cheering them on and at other times with the
crowd cursing as it makes its way to the exit in the middle of the
third quarter. Regardless, these young men will suit up again and put it
all on the line the very next Friday, ever hopeful, always faithful.
