Junior Valentine Queen 2010

The Benavides Senior Class crowned Marina Franco as the Junior Valentines QueenMarina is the the lovely 13 year old daughter of Adam Franco and Priscilla Garza. Marina, a seventh grader, is a cheerleader and is active in volleyball, basketball, and track.  Marina enjoys hanging out with her friends, talking on the phone, running, going to the movies, and shopping. Most importantly, she enjoys spending quality time with her family.  She would like to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day! Marina has a special message for her mom, “ You’re one great mom, I’m happy to say. I want you to know I appreciate you and I love you a lot. Happy Valentine’s Day from me.

Valentine Queen 2010

The Benavides Senior Class crowned Amber Cantu as the Valentines QueenAmber is the 18 year old daughter of Mr. Noel P. Cantu and Irene Cantu.  Amber is an active senior member and is part of the Lady Eagle varsity Volleyball and Basketball team.  She is the head cheerleader for the Varsity cheer squad, and is also a member of the mighty Eagle band and one act play.  Amber enjoys hanging out with friends, talking on the phone, reading books, running, going to the movies, shopping, and spending time with her family as much as possible.  amber plans on going to college after high school in pursue of a degree as a Physical Therapy Technician.  amber would like to thank her parents and friends for helping her throughout the years.  She would also like to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day! 


 

Benavides Journalism Class

The Benavides Journalism class would like to welcome back all the faculty, staff and student body at Benavides Secondary School.  The Journalism class will be producing the Freer Press Eagle Chronicle once a week.  The class is excited about reporting Benavides Secondary School news and keeping you informed of up-coming events.  The following staff will be reporting news to you.

Lady Eagles Varsity Basketball

On Friday, January 29, 2010 the Lady Eagles traveled to Bruni to face the Lady Badgers.  The Lady Eagles were victorious by a score of 46-32.  Leading the scoring was Dina Peralez with 12 points.  On Tuesday, February 2, 2010 the Lady Eagles clinched their 1st playoff spot in 8 years, by defeating the La Villa, Lady Cardinals by a score of 49-15.  Leading in scoring was Lauren Gutierrez with 11 points. 


 

Eagles Basketball Teams

The Eagles basketball team lost a tough game against La Villa by a score of 56-51.  Leading the scoring was A.R. Ruiz with 26 points.
The JV Boys won 39-31.  Leading the scoring was Evan Franco with 11 points.
