Agua Poquita Soil and Water Conservation District #321 (Agua Poquita SWCD) Board of Directors are proud to announce they will be offering a $1,000 scholarship to one graduating student from each of the Duval County High Schools. 

The Agua Poquita encourages students to participate in this opportunity for assistance; especially those interested in pursuing an Ag related field of study. 

Proof of enrollment in a higher education college, university or trade school will be required as checks are paid directly to each student. A picture of the selected students ,from each school, will be needed. 

Students are welcome to submit their applications directly to Agua Poquita SWCD by email, mail, or by bringing it to our office. Our contact information is on the application form. If you would like the students to submit to you and then you email them to us, that would be acceptable as well.

Dr. Janet M. Cunningham Scholarship for Educational Excellence presented by Education to Employment Partners (E2E).

Requirements & Eligibility

  1. Be a resident of Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Kenedy,  Kleberg, Live Oak, McMullen, Nueces, or San Patricio County.
  2. Demonstrate financial assistance request by submitting your Student Aid Report (SAR) for the 2024-2025 school year. The SAR is the report you receive upon completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Or, demonstrate financial assistance request by submitting your completion confirmation email upon submission of the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TAFSA), for eligible students.
  3. Submit a 300-word essay describing your educational and career goals and how this scholarship will help you achieve those goals.


How to Apply
Applicants should submit their essay with contact information, and the SAR or TAFSA email confirmation (front cover only), by email to by May 3, 2024.  Regional P-16 Council members will review the applications and winners will be announced on May 31, 2024.

Two $1,000 scholarships will be paid directly to the college, university, or career training program.

According to our records very few students have applied to the scholarship so this would be a fantastic opportunity for seniors to get their name out there for some free money toward their post-secondary goals!
